Dumaguete City: Half-Day Tour

Overview

One of Dumaguete City’s oldest landmarks is the Dumaguete Belfry Tower, which was constructed between 1754 and 1776. The bell tower is built of coral reefs and is beside one
of the oldest churches in the island of Negros. Beside the Belfry Tower is the magnificent St. Catherine Alexandria Cathedral known to be the Oldest Stone Church in Negros,
located in Dumaguete City. The cathedral was reconstructed in 1885 and then extended in 1936, itself has a long history, having existed in the same spot for hundreds of years,
and continues to draw sizable crowds on Sundays.

You can also visit tourist attractions that are nearby the Belfry Tower and the cathedral, the first one is the Dumaguete Public Market that offers a wide variety of stuffs, a normal
public market that sells perishable goods.

Rizal Boulevard another popular tourist spot in the city, named after the Philippines’ national hero Dr. Jose P. Rizal. Walking along the landmark is another way to relax and
taste the beauty of the boulevard and Dumaguete’s street foods as well.

Silliman University ranked as one of the top 10 universities in the Philippines and the Oldest University founded by Americans in Asia. This school first started in year 1901 when
the American Presbyterian missionaries came to the Philippines after the war of America and Spain ended.

Lastly, get a chance to visit the Provincial Capitol the seat of the provincial government of Negros Oriental one of the provinces in the Philippines.
